Reflection & Recreation Time!

The Assumption Volunteers recently took a break from their work at Kids Kabin to bond and reflect together in Twickenham before starting summer activities. The day began with a morning prayer focusing on the Beatitudes, and we were reminded that when we live out the Beatitudes, we are already doing our mission. Sr. Francesca then shared insights on St. Marie Eugenie’s teaching about joyful detachment. Knowing more about its meaning enabled each of us to acknowledge our learnings and realizations as Assumption Volunteers while calling us to embrace what God has planned for us—to live as fully as possible. Indeed, this day of reflection prepared us for the upcoming end of our volunteer year. Spending time with the sisters in Twickenham was also one of the highlights of the weekend. We enjoyed their hospitality, shown through the delicious treats and lunch lovingly prepared for all of us.

The next day, we enjoyed a trip to Oxford, touring different colleges and seeing some of the places where St. John Henry Newman once lived. The beautiful weather allowed us to leisurely stroll along the meadows, admiring the stunning architecture of the colleges and chapels that revealed the city’s rich history. A major highlight was the guided tour of Christ Church College, known for its grandeur and its connection to Harry Potter scenes. The Potterheads among us were truly amazed!
